HIT PARADE CREATURE We threw a party at the fraternity Invited lots of hot chicks, bought ourselves a beer crate Played a lot of records from the Hit Parade But the noise woke the creature from his ancient slumber He came for revenge and bloodlust And to eat some dumb-ass college kids First he kicked the doors off then he stood on Brad's neck Smashed the whole place up looking for victims He was all scaly kinda like a fishman Killed all the freshmen, returned to the sea again He was a creature from ancient times He came to feed on America's youth like an amphibian Vietnam

THE SUPERMARKET IS FULL OF ZOMBIES The supermarket is full of zombies They're blocking the aisles they're pushing trolleys They wanna purchase they wanna purchase They're chewing the bread they are the undead The supermarket is full of zombies Their eyes hanging out of bloody sockets And special offers don't avert their gaze For they come to shop from beyond the grave They're evil and strong and won't be dis-swayed From visiting every shopping arcade But two for one offers are not to their taste They prefer the goods routinely displayed The supermarket is full of zombies They're blocking the aisles they're pushing trolleys They wanna purchase They wanna purchase They wanna purchase

STARSIGN VOODOO KILLER Did I ever tell you I was born during an eclipse, so technically I have no starsign. It all started when I was walking down a back alley. Some crazy one-eyed cat jumped out from a trashcan. Sacred me shitless. I ran into the nearest bar, bumping into some head honcho. I spilled Jack Daniels down his rhinestone shirt, the cat went crazy. He had tattooed knuckles, it said ''Love and Hat'', the poor fool had run out of ink. The moon shone through his ribcage and I could just make out on his shoulderblade the prong of a devil's tail. He shone me an apocalyptic grin. He was wearing a gold chain with a rusty crucifix, but the Jesus had escaped. Some two-bit hooker at the end of the bar , she was carressing a Lucky Strike between her ruby lips, and outside the reflection of the neon sign was proclaiming 'Girls all Night''. I ran a bony finger around the rim of the glass, because bad luck follows me 'round like a hawk. I'm an out and out sinner Looking for redemption in the blood on the mirror I'm an out and out sinner Looking for redemption in the blood on the mirror I'm a bar-room lizard In a suit for a cadaver Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu I'm carrying the corpse of a voodoo crime I was born in an eclipse so I got no sign Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu I'm an out and out sinner Looking for redemption in the blood on the mirror I'm a bar-room lizard In a suit for a cadaver And I'm washing my knuckles in a roadhouse sink Washing my knuckles in a roadhouse sink I was born in an eclipse so I got no sign I was born in an eclipse so I got no sign And I'm carrying the corpse of a voodoo crime I'm carrying the corpse of a voodoo crime I'm an out and out sinner An out and out sinner I'm looking for redemption in the blood on the mirror I'm looking for redemption in the blood on the mirror Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Washing my knuckles in a roadhouse sink I'm washing my knuckles in a roadhouse sink Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu I'm carrying the corpse of a voodoo crime I was born in an eclipse so I got no sign Je me suis perdu Je me suis perdu Kaleidoscopic circus clowns In embryonic surgeons' gowns Are distributing acid tabs To the psychedelic strung-out crowds Invisible vampires line the street Psycotropic plants grow under their feet As test tube babies twitch and moan To the rhythm of the day-glo saxophone Was it Jimi or Janice or Lenny or Jim In the rose-lined coffin in the church of sin Did you lose your virginity to 'Light My Fire' In a disused cellar did it take you higher? Did the hand of the Buddha throw the flowers on the ground In a long-gone sixties wah-wah sound? Did the hand of the Buddha throw the flowers on the ground In a long-gone sixties wah-wah sound? Did the hand of the Buddha throw the flowers on the ground In a long-gone sixties wah-wah sound?

Belgium must surely be the Twilight Zone of Rock ‘n Roll, within its borders identity is a ghost-image at best, and musical genres cross-pollinate and morph with the same dreamlike abandon. Proof of this is Ufo goes Ufa, an Anglo-Belge collaboration, which will take you down the rabbit-hole and through the wall to the dark corners of Rock ‘n Roll’s twisted psyche.

Pop Garage Symphony No. 9, their first album, stampedes gleefully through assorted styles like a shoplifter in a graveyard. Twanging pop melodies mesh with lo-fi garage fuzz guitars, in a Beefheart-induced sci-fi landscape. The shambolic genius of The Fall collides with the psycho violin and primitive beats of The Velvet Underground, as analogue synths slide and throb over the whole opus like alien tentacles.

Lyrically, there’s a huge green fluorescent dose of subterranean B-movie sub-culture running through its veins. Zombies and serial killers, S&M barberellas and vengeful bluesmen rub shoulders with the sleazy demise of the Summer of Love and Kerouac’s holy deadbeat epiphanies.

Songs are the result of the combined efforts of Northern English exile Briandroid on vocals and synths, and his acolytes the charming Sophie Galet on drums and percussion, and Pascal Scalp, bassist from Jacques Duvall’s Phantom combo. Guitars and arrangements are provided by Miam Monster Miam, who signed the band to his Freaksville label after hearing the song ‘Hong Kong Slasher’.

At the helm is legendary producer Kramer, creator of the seminal Shimmy Disc label, with a wealth of production credits behind him with artists such as Butthole Surfers, Galaxie 500, Bongwater and Jon Spencer to name but a few.

With such talent and inventiveness involved, it’s clear that Ufo goes Ufa goes some way to cementing Belgium’s surreal and mutated presence in the pantheon of modern music.

Lien Myspace“Pop Garage Symphony No 9?

[Quotes]

"Enfin, dans l’idée en tout cas. UFO Goes UFA, c’est le bon goût à l’état pur : guitare vintage, blues électronique, synthé krautrock. Toute les obsessions de la décennie. L’urgence, les références classieuses… Mais c’est surtout l’amour"
Little Johny Jet, Gonzai

Marguerite Lanternier, Trente trois tours

Laurent Houbrecht, Focus Vif

"Le rock wallon est sauvé"
Serge Coosemans La Casacosmani

"Awesome gig ! excellent band... The best support act we had on this tour"
Germaine Bacca and Aaron Hartman of 'My old time Relijun', April 17 th 2008 Recyclart Bxl after the ugu gig

Jean Daniel Beauvallet, Les Inrockuptibles

"Punk is back mais avec l'intelligence et les références adéquates"
Thierry Coljon, Le soir

Jean Pierre Lhoir, Music in Belgium

Ludovic Basque, Radio France Internationale

The Ticket
